Setting the Foundation for Tactical Urbanism

The Broward MPO is committed to improving transportation safety and increasing choice and comfort for all those who live, work, and play in Broward County. In support of the many efforts the BMPO has done over the last 10 years as part of the Complete Streets initiatives, the agency now has a desire to take a bold step in supporting municipalities turning ideas and plan recommendations into reality through the implementation of tactical urbanism/quick build projects. 

 

The program objective is to support partner agencies in the implementation of demonstration projects that test new ideas, generate public awareness, and support efforts to increase multimodal safety and connectivity.

While employed with Kittelson & Associates, and as part of HDR's Team, Fabian worked with the BMPO team to set the foundation to build the Tactical Urbanism/Quick Build program from the ground up. As part of this task Fabian led the the creative process to develop a brand identity for the program. Activities included coordinating and facilitating discussions with BMPO staff to find common ground on program objectives to inspire the creative process, evaluating brand concept alternatives, and supporting the team in the selection of a preferred design.
