Developing a Multimodal Plan for Implementation

The City of San Juan Bautista received a Caltrans Sustainable Communities Planning Grant to develop an Active Transportation and Community Connectivity Plan. The City's vision included developing a community-driven plan that builds on the initial list of trail, bicycle, and pedestrian infrastructure improvements included in the City’s Parks Master Plan.

The scope of work for this plan included an intensive participatory planning effort. This plan will guide the City as it moves to implement multimodal projects.

Goals of the Active Transportation and Community Connectivity Plan Included:

  • Engage community members to identify needs and priorities;

  • Build on recent planning efforts to provide affordable mobility options and improvements that support active modes of transportation;

  • Recommend improvements to provide a complete and coherent network;

  • Develop conceptual plans for streets, public spaces, and development opportunity sites;

  • Identify short-term and long-term infrastructure projects and potential funding opportunities to empower the City to begin implementation.

Urbe Studio is participating on this project as part of the Blue Zones / CivicWell  team - providing support through the following project phases: Existing Conditions Analysis, Community Engagement, and Plan Development.
